We’re here to help you resolve problems and deepen your relationships.

Relational therapy focuses on the issues that come up between 2 or more people that have not resolved on their own. This can include romantic relationships and family relationships, but we are open to the vast nuance of human relationships. We are a poly-affirming practice, and are able to see a wide array of relational configurations.

Our therapists are here to support you.

Relational therapy provides a container to understand the ways current communication is getting in the way of growing together. Often, it is in the ways we communicate, rather than the content itself, that fosters conflict. This container can address how we show up for each other and, in turn, allow for clearer and empathetic communication, individualized growth within the relational dynamic, and facilitate a safety needed for trust and understanding.

Questions?

We have answers.

  • Sessions typically last for 45-54 minutes once a week. A termination date can be discussed with your therapist, but how long sessions last will be dependent upon the issues you are wanting to look at and their complexities.

  • It depends! You will be given the opportunity to discuss with your therapist how to best utilize session time. Often, sessions will involve activities around building safety, co-regulation and communication style and unpacking barriers to understanding.

  • No-although, there may be ethical concerns to be mindful of. For example, relationship dynamics involving abuse are not suited for relational therapy, as there is no way to foster safety.

Other than that, Head/Heart has provided services for all sorts of relational dynamics including, but not limited to, couples, polycules, siblings, families, roommates, and best friends!
