Genny Ramos

Clinical Intern

Genny Ramos (she/her) is a third-year Master’s candidate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at DePaul University. Her therapeutic areas of focus are working with young adults and adults experiencing depression and anxiety, race and cultural identity, multicultural issues, generational trauma, and self-worth. As a career shifter, she is also interested in career development, exploring career transitions, and burnout.

Genny strives to create a warm and collaborative environment grounded in mutual respect, open-mindedness, and curiosity. She believes that therapy is your space to process thoughts and experiences, celebrate your strengths, and heal. Through accepting the complexities of life, Genny believes we can come closer to developing compassion and understanding for ourselves and others.  In our shared therapeutic space, Genny views her clients as the experts in their experiences. Her role is in supporting them to reclaim a meaningful life now.

Genny grew up in California in a Filipino family. She comes to the counseling field having spent more than 15 years working in nonprofits and in tech. She understands the significance that culture, identities, and relationships have in how we see ourselves and move through the world. Genny draws from trauma-informed, humanistic, and relational approaches to foster self-awareness, vulnerability, and growth. With a background in writing and performance, she enjoys incorporating humor, creative self expression, and mindfulness into her practice. She is particularly passionate about destigmatizing mental health in the Asian community.

Outside of the therapy room, Genny loves running, gardening and getting outside with her husband, binge watching her favorite Bravo shows, and catching up with family and friends across the globe.
